Frosh Week takes place the week before classes begin and serves as an orientation for incoming first-year students. It’s a chance to make new friends, get to know the campus, and have fun before the academic year kicks off. Events range from chill vibes like movie nights and talent shows to high-energy activities such as themed parties and water games—there’s something for everyone!
Leader Requirements
Must be a current York student or a recent graduate
Willing to actively participate in all Frosh Week events and activities
Passionate about building community and supporting incoming students
Open to all personality types—we value diversity and encourage anyone enthusiastic about student life to apply!
It's not mandatory to join a team, but here are some that you can explore!
Leader: Support and guide first-year students throughout Frosh Week. Be a friendly, approachable presence and help foster a positive, inclusive environment.
Captain: Oversee your group of leaders and ensure everything runs smoothly. Act as the main point of contact between leaders and the organizing committee.
DJ/AV: Responsible for music and audio-visual setup during events—especially during pump-up parties and high-energy activities like water games.
First Aid: Assist with first aid as needed throughout the week. There is a designated First Aid Lead, but you may be called upon to support in emergencies.
Wellness / SafeTALK: Must complete SafeTALK training (provided prior to Frosh Week). Help support and guide first-year students in the mental health/wellness room. Be a calm, understanding presence for those facing emotional challenges.
Media: Help capture memories by taking photos and videos throughout Frosh Week. Be present at key events and work closely with the Frosh media team to ensure great coverage.
Mascot: Be the Stong Spartan! Represent the spirit of our college during OTL and potentially at one or two Frosh Week events. Get ready to hype up the crowd and bring the energy.
Dance Master: Lead and teach the official Frosh Dance to the incoming first-year students. Be enthusiastic, patient, and ready to hype them up during practice and performances.
Cheer Master: Responsible for teaching college cheers to both first-years and fellow leaders. Be loud, proud, and full of energy to get everyone pumped up and united.
